On 5th December 2023, we went to see a production of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ performed by the Vienna English Theatre group. Macbeth is the tragic story of a Scottish soldier who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that he will become King of Scotland one day. Because of this, he becomes consumed by ambition and greed and murders King Duncan of Scotland. The rest of the play follows Macbeth as he descends into insanity and paranoia as a result of this act.
In my opinion, this performance of ‘Macbeth’ was absolutely great. The cast consisted only of 4 actors, who each played various parts throughout the play.
All of them were really convincing in their roles and even managed to slip into different roles very easily. The stage decoration was just perfect using the colours red and black to highlight the gory and tragic moments of the play.
